It's written to meet Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR").

2. Data Processing Principles
Intercutter follows the GDPR's core principles when handling personal data:
- Lawfulness, fairness and transparency. There's always a clear legal basis for processing, and it happens in a way you'd reasonably expect.
- Purpose limitation. Data is only collected for specific, stated purposes, and isn't repurposed beyond them.
- Data minimisation. Only what's genuinely needed for the stated purpose gets collected.
- Accuracy. Reasonable steps are taken to keep data correct and current.
- Storage limitation. Data isn't kept longer than the purpose it was collected for requires.
- Integrity and confidentiality. Technical and organizational measures protect data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss.
- Accountability. Intercutter is answerable for meeting these principles, and can show that it does.
3. What Data We Collect, Why, and on What Legal Basis
3.1 Visiting the Website
Visiting intercutter.com may automatically collect your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and the page that referred you. This comes through our hosting provider Vercel's server logs and Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and counts visits using an anonymous identifier discarded after 24 hours.
This is collected to keep an eye on site performance, catch technical problems, and understand how people use the site, under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in running and improving the website. It's kept for up to 12 months.
3.2 Subscribing to the Service
Subscribing means we collect your name, email address, billing address where it's required, and payment information. Stripe processes card details directly; Intercutter never stores them.
This is needed to set up and manage your subscription, take payments, send invoices, and reach you about your account, under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, performance of a contract. It's kept for as long as the subscription runs, plus 5 years to meet legal and accounting obligations, then deleted or anonymized.
3.3 Submitting Requests and Project Communication
When you send editing requests or communicate with us through Notion, email, or similar, we process the content of those requests, feedback, revision notes, and correspondence, including any personal data that shows up in raw footage or project briefs you supply.
This is processed to deliver the Service and respond to you, under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, performance of a contract. Raw footage and working files are deleted within 30 days of final delivery; exported deliverables stay available for 60 days after delivery; written correspondence is kept for up to 2 years after the subscription ends.
3.4 Scheduling a Call
Booking a consultation or onboarding call through Cal.com, the scheduler embedded on our site, means we collect your name, email address, and the date and time of the call.
This manages the booking, sends calendar invitations, and lets the meeting happen, under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps before entering a contract) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in managing client relationships). It's kept for up to 12 months after the call.
3.5 Marketing Communications
If you opt in to marketing emails from Intercutter, we collect your name and email address.
This lets us send you updates and offers about Intercutter's services, under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, your explicit consent, and is kept until you withdraw that consent.
You can withdraw consent anytime through the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or by writing to hello@intercutter.com. Withdrawing doesn't affect the lawfulness of anything processed before that point.
4. Cookies
intercutter.com doesn't use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. Our website analytics run without cookies, as described in Section 3.1.
Third-party tools you choose to use may set their own cookies, namely the Cal.com scheduler embedded on our site and Stripe's checkout and billing pages. Those cookies fall under each provider's own policy.
More on this is in our Cookie Policy at intercutter.com/cookies.
5. Third-Party Service Providers
These are the third parties Intercutter uses, who may process personal data on our behalf or as independent controllers, depending on the service:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing | Name, billing address, payment instrument (card details not stored by Intercutter) |
| Frame.io | Video file delivery | Name, email, project files |
| Notion | Request management and project communication | Name, email, project content |
| Cal.com | Meeting scheduling | Name, email, meeting notes |
| Vercel | Website hosting and analytics | Server logs (IP address, browser), cookieless usage data |
| Google Workspace | Email communication | Email correspondence |
Each one operates under its own privacy policy and data protection obligations. Where a provider sits outside the European Economic Area (EEA), appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
This list reflects what's in active use as of this Policy's date, and will be updated whenever a new data-processing provider comes into the picture.
6. International Data Transfers
Some providers listed above are based outside the EEA, including in the United States. Where data moves outside the EEA, Intercutter makes sure appropriate safeguards are in place per Chapter V of the GDPR, whether that's Standard Contractual Clauses, an adequacy decision, or another permitted transfer mechanism.
7. Data Retention
Data is only kept for as long as its purpose requires, or as long as the law requires. Section 3 above lays out the specific periods. Once data is no longer needed, it's securely deleted or anonymized.
8. Your Rights Under the GDPR
If you're in the EU or EEA, you have these rights over your personal data:
- Right of access: get a copy of the data Intercutter holds about you.
- Right to rectification: have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
- Right to erasure: have your data deleted, subject to any legal obligations that require keeping it ("right to be forgotten").
- Right to restriction of processing: ask Intercutter to limit how your data is processed in certain situations.
- Right to data portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and have it passed to another controller.
- Right to object: object to processing that's based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent: where processing relies on your consent, withdraw it anytime, without affecting what was done lawfully before.
To use any of these rights, email hello@intercutter.com describing what you need. We'll respond within 30 days, and may ask you to verify your identity first.
If you think your data protection rights have been breached, you can file a complaint with the supervisory authority where you live. In Lithuania, that's the State Data Protection Inspectorate (Valstybinė duomenų apsaugos inspekcija), at www.ada.lt.
9. Security
Intercutter uses commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or loss, including access controls, encrypted communication, and careful choice of third-party providers.
No method of transmitting or storing data online is fully secure. We do our best to protect your data, but can't guarantee absolute security, and aren't liable for unauthorized access that happens despite reasonable precautions.
10. Children's Privacy
Intercutter has no minimum age, but anyone under 18 needs a parent's or guardian's consent to subscribe. If you think a child has shared personal data with us without that consent, email hello@intercutter.com and we'll delete it promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time, to reflect changes in the Service, the law, or how data is processed. Updates get published here with a new date at the top.
Material changes are also emailed to active subscribers. Continuing to use the Service after a change is published means you accept the update.
